Scouting Cary-Grove @ Dundee-Crown

Cary-Grove (8-0, 4-0) at Dundee-Crown (1-7, 0-4)

When: Today at 7:15 p.m. at the D-C Bowl

Last year: Cary-Grove 33, Dundee-Crown 6

Last week: Cary-Grove 28, CL South 16; Huntley 40, Dundee-Crown 20

Outlook: Cary-Grove aims to complete its sixth straight undefeated conference title and its fifth 9-0 regular-season in six years with a win against the struggling Chargers. "I would think it's very important to (the players)," Cary-Grove coach Bruce Kay said of finishing undefeated. "But like every week we want to execute and improve our game. Dundee-Crown likes to throw the ball. We want to see how well we've improved at defending the pass. On defense they give two or three different defensive fronts. What they do and how we execute our offense all pose challenges to us. We just want to keep it rolling. We don't want to take a step back after a big win against (Crystal Lake) South." Though the odds of winning are substantially against the Chargers, they plan to put up a good fight in the finale on their home field. "We want to finish out playing hard," D-C coach Mike Davis said. "The guys know what we're up against. We'd like our seniors to go out with some positives and give Cary as much a game as we can so they leave feeling positive about what they did here." Cary-Grove senior Alex Hembrey has scored 108 points on 18 touchdowns and has rushed for 742 yards in 78 attempts.
