National Night Out in Algonquin:
Algonquin invites the community to its free National Night Out kick off event, scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Algonquin Swimming Pool and Splashpad, 599 Longwood Drive. The night will include swimming, a hot dog dinner and dessert, games, prizes and information on how to organize your own neighborhood event. National Night Out day is Aug. 4 and serves to establish partnerships between residents and police to help fight crime. To register your National Night Out event, visit algonquin.org.
New preschool at Cary's Deer Path School:
Cary Elementary School District 26 is offering a new preschool program at Deer Path School in the fall. The program is open to children 3 to 5 years old who live within district boundaries. Each session will be for 21/2 hours in the morning or afternoon. Parents can register for three days a week (Monday through Wednesday) or four days a week (Monday through Thursday). The morning session is for 3- and 4-year-olds; the afternoon session is for 4- and 5-year-olds. No more than 15 children can be enrolled in each session. Farmers market open Saturday:
The Dundee Farmers Market is open beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday. About 40 vendors will sell fresh, locally grown produce, flowers and bedding plants, as well as antiques and collectibles. The farmers market is at the Dundee Township Visitors Center, also known as the Depot, 319 N. River St., East Dundee. The market runs from May through October and includes an annual tomato contest and pumpkin festival.
