Fire destroys one house, damages another in Woodridge

Lisle-Woodridge Fire District crews are continuing their probe into what triggered a fire Sunday night that destroyed one house and severely damaged a second in Woodridge.

No injuries were reported, Bureau Chief Jim French said Monday.

The initial blaze was reported at 8:08 p.m. and firefighters arrived eight minutes later to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage and spreading through the attic of the house at 2533 Crabtree Ave., French said.

The fire also spread to the attic of the house next door at 2527 Crabtree.

Mutual aid crews from Bolingbrook, Darien-Woodridge, Downers Grove, Lombard and Naperville assisted in battling the fires.

French said teams still were at the scene Monday afternoon trying to determine what sparked the blaze.

"There's a lot of digging to do," he said.

Damage estimates are not yet available, but firefighters said the house at 2533 Crabtree was completely destroyed and the house at 2527 Crabtree sustained extensive damage.
