Antioch rallies for victory

Antioch improved to 21-5 with a 25-23, 25-18 nonconference girls volleyball victory over Lake Forest Academy on Monday.

The Sequoits were down 6-15 in the first game, but put together an impressive rally. Game two was keyed by a strong blocking effort by Antioch.

Katie Lonergan had 10 kills and 7 digs for the Sequoits while Megan Toczek had 8 blocks.

Setter Melisa Ori had 20 assists for Antioch.

Woodstock def. Wauconda: Wauconda dropped to 14-12 with a 25-16, 25-18 loss to Woodstock.

Lisa Aguilar had 4 kills and 7 digs for the Bulldogs while teammate Lauren Mead added 4 kills.

Setter Kristy Waltenburg tallied 12 assists for Wauconda.

Girls tennis

Libertyville def. Zion-Benton: Libertyville swept Zion-Benton 5-0 in North Suburban Lake Division action.

Sharon Lo led the Wildcats with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kelsie Lippeth in the No. 1 singles match.

Meanwhile, Libertyville's team of Eileen Lee and Hanna Mory defeated Ashleigh Fansona and Kennisha Wimer 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles match.

Boys soccer

Lakes 5, Vernon Hills 0: Lakes ran out to a 4-0 lead by halftime to get the North Suburban Prairie Division win.

The Eagles got 2 goals from Steve Korosis and 3 assists from Matt Braden.

Tommy O'Brien, Josh Beckman and Ryan Rudynski scored Lakes' other goals.

Boys cross country

Antioch wins: Antioch placed four runners in the top six to get wins over Grant and host Round Lake.

Mike Cook (18:20) and Bryant Giorgi (18:32) placed second and third respectively to lead the way for the Sequoits.

Grant's Derek Hall won the race with an 18:12 and Round Lake's top finisher was Scott Pacelt, who placed ninth with a 19:02.

Vernon Hills wins: Vernon Hills took three of the top four spots in defeating Lakes.

Moe Barahni (16:18) and Max Condocia (16:51) finished in first and second respectively for Vernon Hills.

Ethan Hahn was Lakes' top finisher. He took third with a 17:17.

Libertyville wins: A Libertyville runner didn't win the race, but the Wildcats won their meet against Zion-Benton by sweeping second through 11th place.

John Cavicchia was Libertyville's top runner. He finished second with a 17:12.

Girls cross country

Grant wins: At Round Lake, three of the top five finishers were from Grant, which got victories over Antioch and the host Panthers.

Kendra Kennedy and Alexis Capps finished second and third respectively for Grant.

Antioch's Erin Loss won the race with a 20:27.

Vernon Hills wins: Vernon Hills defeated Lakes by claiming nine of the top 11 places.

Libertyville wins: Libertyville swept the top 11 places to defeat Zion-Benton.
