Health care discussion tonight:
The League of Women Voters of the Palatine and Arlington Heights areas will put on a free program discussing health care reform at 7 p.m. tonight at the Palatine Public Library, 700 N. North Court. A panel of speakers consisting of a nurse practitioner and two doctors will explain problems with the current health care system and legislation currently being proposed in Congress. District 62 appoints principal:
The Des Plaines Elementary District 62 school board has appointed Kelly Krueger principal of Central Elementary School. Krueger replaces Janice Rashid, who was appointed as the district's director of curriculum and instruction. Krueger taught at King Elementary School in Chicago Public Schools. She coordinated the Aim High after-school program, served as the lead teacher for the Instructional Management Program and Academic Communication Tool Program. She was elected by her peers to serve on the Local School Council as its secretary.
Store promo helps food bank:
Christopher & Banks clothing store at Streets of Woodfield in Schaumburg will hold a special promotion this weekend to benefit the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry and other charities. Those who bring in one or two nonperishable food items to donate will receive 10 or 20 percent off their purchases, respectively. Those who bring in three or more food items will receive 30 percent off. The promotion runs Saturday, July 25, and Sunday, July 26.
