Terranova on union ballot:
A federal court injunction will keep Schaumburg Township Democratic Committeeman Rocco Terranova on the ballot for his labor union's election this Saturday. This spring, officials from Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 73 removed Terranova from his office as business representative and barred him from running from the top office of president and business manager for two years. According to union documents, Terranova was accused of misrepresenting his authority to obtain records of union credit card activity at two restaurants. Terranova said he is a victim of union politics and that the information he found revealed that bills were not being paid. Terranova's attorney Robert Cohen said the only aspect of the union's disciplinary action being put on hold by Tuesday's injunction is his removal from the ballot. The rest will be handled in the course of his lawsuit, the next status hearing of which is June 16.
