Who will it be in Cary?:
Cary Village President Tom Kierna is interviewing seven candidates to fill two vacant trustee positions on the village board and is expected to make appointments Tuesday, June 16. Officials said 17 people applied for the seats, left vacant by the death of newly elected Trustee Steve Adams and by Kierna's election as mayor. Kierna was previously a trustee.
New board member in District 47:
A 33-year-old Crystal Lake man with strong ties to Crystal Lake Elementary District 47 is the district's newest board member. The board voted 6-0 to appoint attorney Robert Fetzner to the seat formerly held by Lisa Knoeppel. Fetzner has not previously served on the board. Fetzner's father is a retired District 47 principal and director of operations; his mother is a retired District 47 teacher. The board selected Fetzner out of 11 applicants it interviewed. "He seems very excited and enthusiastic," said Donn Mendoza, assistant to the superintendent. Fetzner was sworn in Monday night.
Another U-46 administrator to leave:
Jeff King, executive director of operations at Elgin Area School District U-46, has accepted an assistant superintendent position with Lake Zurich District 95. King said the role will allow him to work with the district's finances and operations. King has worked at U-46 since 2001. He will start his new position July 1.
Chief Financial Officer John Prince will also leave U-46 at the end of the month, for west suburban Plainfield District 158.
