Dine to help food pantry:

Area residents can stimulate the economy and their taste buds while helping the hungry during the People Resource Center's "Dine Away Hunger" event on June 17. Participating restaurants will donate 10 percent of their receipts to PRC's food pantry and Central DuPage Hospital will match every dollar raised. Participating restaurants include: Alberto's, Culver's, Manhatten's, Mapleberry Pancake House, Red Apple Pancake House, RoccoVino's Ristorante & Pizzeria, Vangelo's Town Center Grille and Village Tavern & Grill, all in Carol Stream; Chelsea Place and Pal Joey's, both in West Chicago; and Caliendo's, John's Restaurant & Tavern and Oakfield in Winfield. Scholarship winners:

Seven area students earned scholarships from the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce. The chamber sponsored it annual Scholarship Breakfast June 11 at the Bloomingdale Golf Club and awarded $1,000 scholarships funded by Joe Bohne of Old Town Bank and Trust of Bloomingdale, State Rep. Franco Coladipietro, Salomon Diaz of Outback Steakhouse, Bloomingdale Village President Bob Iden, Tom Itrich of Huskie Tools and Kevin Mottlowitz of Stratford Crossing Shopping Center. Scholarship winners are: Jeremy Wilk, Eric Poplonski, Bryn Spejcher, Kevin McKeown, Hiromi Yazawa, Kelsey Coleman and Colin May.

Give garden plot feedback:

Naperville Park District will hold an open house to get resident feedback on garden plot expansion. The event will go from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Aldred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Ave. There will not be a formal presentation. Construction at both the West Street garden plots and new location at DuPage River Park will begin in the fall.
