Algonquin hosts art show:
The village of Algonquin and the Algonquin Public Arts Commission are hosting the second annual Algonquin's Art on the Fox from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Riverfront Park. Art on the Fox is a free fine art show featuring works for sale and art demonstrations. If it rains, the show will be rescheduled to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. The park is along the Fox River, one block north of Algonquin Road. Call (847) 658-4184.
Huntley market begins:
Huntley's Farmers' Market begins on Saturday, June 6. The market features more than 10 produce and food vendors on Coral Street and around the square in downtown Huntley. Farmers' Market will be held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through Oct. 3. A craft fair will be held at the market on the first Saturday of every month during the season. Register for Hampshire programs:
Registration for the Hampshire youth football and cheerleading program will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at the Hampshire Park District building, 390 South Ave. Registration will be accepted from residents of Hampshire, Pingree Grove and Gilberts. Health care discussion:
The public is invited to attend a discussion of health care reform at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Control Alt Design, 1760 Britannia Drive, Elgin. Kay Gamble, a local health care reform activist is co-host of the event, which is designed to inform and engage people from all sectors of the community to learn about the current health care system directly from people who have experienced having to choose between prescriptions or groceries and housing or health insurance. And from small business owners struggling with providing health insurance to their staffs. Refreshments will be provided for the two-hour event by hosts Janice and Walter Raczynski and Kaye Gamble.
