Road rally to support troops:

The Elgin Watch City VFW Post 1307 is sponsoring a Motorcycle and Vehicle Poker Run Rally on Sunday, July 12, to support U.S. military troops serving in Operation Enduring Freedom. The run will begin and end at the post, 1601 Weld Road, stopping at many American Legions and VFW posts along the way. Registration starts at 9 a.m. A pancake/sausage or egg burrito breakfast will be offered at a small cost. The first vehicle will leave the VFW at 11:30 hours. Registration is $15 per person and all proceeds go to provide personal supplies for the troops serving in the Middle East and for mailing of the packages. District 155 shake-up:

One of the top administrators in Crystal Lake High School District 155 will resign at the end of this month. Director of Operations Timothy Neubauer is leaving the district for another job. A district spokesman said the position will not be filled but that Neubauer's duties will be taken over by existing administrative staff. "We've consolidated and streamlined that position," District 155 spokesman Jeff Puma said. Also, Director of Student Services Debbi Cleary is leaving her post to become the director of the district's Haber Oaks campus. On July 1, Mark Kovack will take over Cleary's position, which oversees the district's special education programs.

Violence counseling offered:

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. A licensed counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females, and services are free. For information or an appointment, call (847) 697-2380.

Farmers market open Saturday:

The Dundee Farmers Market is open beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday. About 40 vendors will sell fresh, locally grown produce, flowers and bedding plants, as well as antiques and collectibles. The farmers market is at the Dundee Township Visitors Center, also known as the Depot, 319 N. River St., East Dundee. The market runs from May through October and includes an annual tomato contest and pumpkin festival.
