Flu hits Naperville residents:

Two students at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville have confirmed cases of the H1N1 flu virus, according to Indian Prairie Unit District 204. The students are under a doctor's case and will stay out of school for the recommended seven-day period. The school will remain open and all activities and events will proceed as planned, under the recommendation of the Will County Health Department.

Police officers to be honored:

Naperville's Citizens Appreciate Public Safety Committee will be honoring several police department employees Friday. Award winners are Officer Kenneth Gettemy, Cmdr. Kenneth Parcel, officer Jason Stubler and a team including detectives Mike Cross, Nick Liberio, Jamie Griffith, Sgt. Bill Davis, officers Brian Kappelman, Mike Sailer, Chris Berard, Mike Geiger and crime scene technician Elizabeth Guerrero-Davis. The ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, at the municipal center, 400 S. Eagle St. One officer will also receive the George Pradel Award for Public Service and the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will also present its annual Officer of the Year Award.

Bloomingdale man killed:

A Metra train struck and killed a 25-year-old Bloomingdale man late Tuesday, Franklin Park police officials said. Richard Crouse was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood at 9:45 p.m., Franklin Park Police Chief Joe Patti said. The incident occurred on the 3300 block of Scott Street in Franklin Park. The Metra train was held up for about 90 minutes while the incident was investigated, Patti added. He said the incident remains under investigation.

Swine flu information:

An information session on the swine flu will be offered by the DuPage County Health Department at 6:30 p.m. today at the Little Theater at Glenbard South High School, 23W200 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn. The meeting will precede a 7 p.m. program featuring Dr. Paul J. Donahue, an author and parenting expert who will talk about the challenges facing teenagers and their families.
