Deadline approaching:

If you own land in Kane County, your first installment of property taxes is due Monday, June 1. You can make payment online by visiting kanecountytreasurer.org. You can also mail payment to the Kane County Treasurer's Office at: 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva, 60134, or make it through a participating Kane County bank. Mailed payments must be postmarked by June 1. If you need a copy of the bill to send with your payment, call (630-) 232-3565.

Trail closed for bridge work:

A section of the Fox River Trail in Carpentersville will close temporarily from June 1 to 5 due to nearby construction work. The Kane County Forest Preserve District will be installing bridge abutments for a bridge to be set during the summer. The work will force the temporary closure of the trail from the entrance road of Fox River Shores Forest Preserve north to Angelina Place. Posted signs will alert trail users to the closure. There will be no access through the section of trail, nor will there be an alternate route during that time because of traffic and limited shoulder space on Williams Road. Pool pass perks:

Pool passes for Dundee Township pools are now available. Purchase a pool pass before May 31 and receive a free beach bag filled with coupons redeemable at various park district locations. Dolphin Cove and Sleepy Hollow Pool will open full time for the summer beginning Thursday, June 18.
