Thursday's Fox Valley roundup

Mackenzie Scott allowed just 1 hit over 6 innings and had 15 strikeouts Thursday as Burlington Central's softball team downed Hampshire 5-0 and clinched no worse than a tie for the Big Northern East championship, the Rockets' sixth straight conference title.

BC, which won its 14th straight game, can take the title outright May 21 when it plays its final conference game at Marengo.

Sam Gruner had a double and an RBI for the Rockets (18-3, 9-0) Thursday while Ashley Scheffler had a triple and an RBI. Haley Albamonte also added a double and an RBI.

Waubonsie Valley 5, Elgin 3: Elgin gave up a 3-2 lead in the final two innings and fell in the Upstate Eight. Hannah Perryman had a triple and Mari Aguilera a double for the Maroons (7-19, 4-10). Perryman (5-10) suffered the loss in the circle.

Bartlett sweeps Larkin: Callie Dennison tossed a 2-hitter in the opener and Elizabeth Kay scattered 5 hits in the nightcap as Bartlett (15-11, 8-6) swept Larkin 6-3 and 10-0 in the Upstate Eight. Dennison was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI in the opener and Megan Morales had 2 hits and 2 RBI. In the nightcap, Kay was 3-for-4 with a triple, double and 3 runs scored, Dennison 2-for-3 with a triple and 4 RBI and Kelsey Warrick 3-for-5 with 2 RBI.

St. Edward 6, ACC 5: St. Edward (16-11, 7-5) jumped ahead 5-0 and then held on for a Suburban Catholic Conference win. Lea Diaz and Kristina Brockner each had 2 hits for the Green Wave and Kristina Kolodziejczyk added a double. Sarah Field picked up the win in the circle for St. Edward.
