Grief retreat
Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, a nonprofit organization offering support for those with life-threatening illnesses and the bereaved, will offer a free "Grief Takes a Hike" retreat June 5-7 at Covenant Harbor in Lake Geneva, Wis. Frisbee golf, anyone?
The Dundee Township Park District has opened a new golf course where clubs and dimpled golf balls are not required. The course is 10-hole disc golf course, where players aim a Frisbee at a disc hole basket. Players aim to finish the course in the least number of throws. The course is at the rear of Randall Oaks Park, north of the community center. The course is open from dawn to dusk daily and is free. Players must provide their own equipment.
Elgin residents, have your info ready
The Elgin Fire Department and the Elgin Association of Firefighters Local 439 have magnetized pouches available for city residents at any of Elgin's seven fire stations. Residents can put important medical information in these pouches that can then easily be accessed by paramedics or fire crews during an emergency. Community or neighborhood groups can learn more by scheduling a presentation with Elgin Fire Lt. Bob Bedard. Call (847) 931-6175.
