St. Edward athletic events for Saturday canceled

Despite the fact St. Edward High School learned Friday afternoon that all of its students with flu symptoms had tested negative for the H1N1 virus, all Green Wave athletic activities scheduled for Saturday have been canceled.

P.J. White, the school's athletic director, said Friday afternoon the results of the tests came too late Friday to restore events for Saturday that he had already canceled.

"I couldn't wait that late in the day to inform other schools what we were doing," White said.

St. Edward officials said the school will reopen Monday.
