Fox Valley briefs
Huntley OKs ash borer plan:
In June, Huntley staffers will survey ash trees on village property and remove trees infested with the emerald ash borer. If a resident wants to replace an ash tree that has been removed, the village will split the cost with the homeowner. The village will not remove ash trees that are not infested. "We're trying to stay on top of this but also balance the cost of the program," Village Manager Dave Johnson said. "We don't have the financial ability right now to go out and replace them all." The survey is expected to take one month. The first infestation was confirmed in the village in July 2008.
Volunteers needed for Carpentersville panel:
The village of Carpentersville is seeking members for the village's audit and finance commission. The seven-member commission provides an ongoing link between the village president and the board of trustees, the management staff and also the village's independent auditor. The commission is also responsible for the maintenance of the village's fiscal policy. Interested residents are encouraged to submit a letter of interest to Village President Ed Ritter, 1200 L.W. Besinger Dr., Carpentersville, 60110, no later than Friday, June 19. For details, call Village Manager Craig Anderson at (847) 551-3475.
