District 158 bond plan on hold:
A plan to restructure costly building debt in Huntley Unit District 158 is on hold. The district explored trading its capital appreciation bonds, which generate compound interest payments, for cheaper simple-interest bonds. But the district's bond consultant said this month that because of the instability in the municipal bond market, the plan was not "economically feasible." The district, the consultant said, would have had to spend a lot of money to trade in the bonds. "The last thing anybody needs to do is to spend money on something that was good in theory but not in practice," said Eric Anderson of Harris Bank.
Farmer's Market open:
The Dundee Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. Sunday. About 40 vendors will sell fresh, locally grown produce, flowers and bedding plants, as well as antiques and collectibles. The farmers market is at the Dundee Township Visitors Center, also known as the Depot, 319 N. River St., East Dundee. The market runs from May through October and includes an annual tomato contest and pumpkin festival.
District 300 flu updates online:
