Make Diaper Day donations:
Hanover Township will accept packages of new diapers from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, to recognize Diaper Day. Infant, toddler and adult diapers are welcome. Donations will be given to the Diaper Bank of Northwest Cook and DuPage Counties, which will distribute them to local service providers. Drop off donations at the township office, 250 S. Free skin cancer screenings offered:
Centegra Sage Cancer Center, in partnership with the American Academy of Dermatology, will mark National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month by offering free skin cancer screenings in May. Screening will take place from 9 a.m. to noon May 1 at Centegra Hospital-McHenry, Medical Arts Building Room 210; May 13 at Centegra Health Center-Huntley; May 16 at Centegra Sage Cancer Center in McHenry; and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 26 at Health Bridge Fitness Center in Huntley. Violence counseling offered:
The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. A licensed counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females, and services are free. For information or an appointment, call (847) 697-2380.
Donate shoes to needy:
Hannah Beardsley Middle School, 515 E. Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, is holding a used shoe drive at 7 p.m. Friday, May 8. Souls4Souls and Fellowship of Christian Athletes will donate gently used shoes to people in need across the country and around the globe. The event features a performance by basketball handler Tanya Crevier. The admission fee is a pair of gently used shoes. Monetary donations will also be accepted and will be used to ship the shoes.
