Hospice holds memorial service for all in Barrington

As a way to pay tribute to a lost loved one, the Center for Loss and Hope at Hospice of Northeastern Illinois will hold a special Memorial Service in September in Barrington.

The service will be held on Monday, Sept. 14, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 120 Ela St. in downtown Barrington. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. with the service beginning promptly at 7 p.m.

The evening will include a candle-lighting ceremony during which the names of those who have died are read aloud. An informal gathering that includes coffee, refreshments and fellowship, will follow the service.

"Participating in a memorial service is an important part of the grieving process," said Mary Ann Greene, manager of the Center for Loss and Hope at HNI. "It's especially nice to have a ritual, like the candle-lighting ceremony, to help pay tribute to a loved one's life."

Anyone is invited to attend. Advance registration is being taken by phone, at the Center for Loss and Hope at (847) 381-5599, ext. 250. At that time, those who plan on attending can provide the names of their loved one to be included on the program.

Participants may also bring a photo to be displayed on the Remembrance Table during the event.
