No change on Schaumburg Twp. rock policy
Schaumburg Township Highway Commissioner Bob Fecarotta isn't changing his mind about the recent removal of decorative rocks from the right-of-ways in unincorporated neighborhoods.
But he's agreed to take a personal look at how each case was handled.
Four residents attended Wednesday's township board meeting to complain about the handling of the sudden policy change. But they agreed during a private meeting with Fecarotta afterward to work in cooperation with him.
Fecarotta said he received recent legal advice that the decorative rocks residents have placed on township property in front of their houses created potential liability for the township.
He had rocks removed from the front of about 100 of the township's 700 unincorporated homes. This was done without prior notice to residents who weren't home when workers arrived to move the boulders farther into yards and away from the publicly owned right-of-way.
