Schools named to honor roll:

Four schools in Community Unit District 300 have been named to the Illinois Honor Roll this year. Carpentersville Middle School is one of 153 schools to receive the 2008 Academic Improvement Award. Dundee Highlands Elementary School in West Dundee and Lincoln Prairie Elementary School in Lake in the Hills are among 388 schools to receive the 2008 Academic Excellence Award. Parkview Elementary School in Carpentersville is one of 499 Illinois Spotlight Schools for 2008.

High school hosts circus:

Huntley High School is hosting Illinois State University's Gamma Phi Circus for two performances at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 4. Refreshments will be served. Advance tickets cost $9 for adults and $7 for students and seniors. There is no admission for children younger than 2. Tickets will also be available at the door at a higher cost. The performances will be in the school's east gym. Call (815) 923-8810.

Hospital has repeat award:

Sherman Hospital in Elgin has been named as one of 37 organizations designated as a "Company That Cares" for the second year in a row. A panel of professionals at the Center for Companies That Care doles out the awards in its Honor Roll each year. Some criteria are: establishing and reinforcing ethical standards; supporting a work/life balance for employees; providing a great work environment with competitive compensation; and supporting company involvement in the community.
