Algonquin church extends invitation

Mother's Day lunch for seniors in Elgin

Maplewood Care of Elgin is again partnering with Elgin Senior Services to host a free Mother's Day lunch to the senior ladies in the community. This event will take place at noon Thursday, May 7. All senior women in the community are invited. A delicious lunch will be served, and parking is readily available at Maplewood Care, 50 Jane Drive, Elgin. To RSVP by May 5, call (847) 697-3750.

Pizza, beer tasting benefits autism

The Children's Center for Autism in Cary and Nick's Pizza & Pub will host the sixth annual "Pizza & Beer Tasting Charity Event" from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 30. Enjoy the pizza and sample all the handcrafted beers and root beer you can drink at Nick's Pizza & Pub is at 856 Pyott Road in Crystal Lake. There will be a silent auction, gift raffle, cash raffle and kids game room for children, age 12 and younger. All of proceeds benefit the Children's Center for Autism.
