Getting crafty in Pingree Grove

Pingree Grove will be holding its second annual craft show May 16 and is looking for artists to display their handmade wares. There is no fee to enter, just a $50 deposit to hold your space in Pingree Park, money that will be returned to you at the end of the fair. The deadline to enter is April 15. Tidal wave auction approaching

St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin will hold its 20th annual Tidal Wave Auction/Dinner Dance, with the theme "Fruit of the Vine," on April 4 at the Stonegate Centre in Hoffman Estates. Sponsorships and donations are now being accepted for this largest fundraiser of the year. More than 300 are expected to attend. Cost is $80 per person, which includes dinner, dancing, silent/live auctions and an open bar. Items up for bid will include Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose autographed basketballs, a wine tasting party, sporting events tickets, several Chicago Bears autographed footballs, restaurant gift certificates, electronic products and more. Gas bill relief

Funding may be secured to help Fox Valley residents pay for their heating bills this winter. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is accepting applications for those who have not yet applied for benefits since September 2008. This program applies to homes heated with natural gas, electricity or fuel that's delivered. Eligibility is based on the household's combined income. For a household of one, the gross income for the last 30 days must be less than $1,300; for two people, less than $1,750; for three, less than $2,200; for four, less than $2,650 and for five, less than $3,100.
