Dining out: National Taco Day, LAGO expanding to Glenview, fall fondue and more
National Taco (Tues) Day
Tuesday, Oct. 6, is National Taco Day. To keep you from having to make a choice as to which taco you’ll enjoy, Fat Rosie's Taco & Tequila Bar is offering 10 street tacos for $25.
The lineup allows you to mix and match from a variety of tacos, including chicken, carne asada, al pastor, poblano rajas and cochinita pibil.
Fat Rosie’s has suburban locations in Frankfort, Lincolnwood, Lincolnshire, Naperville, Oak Brook, Rosemont and Schaumburg.

A few weeks after announcing two new restaurants in Barrington, celebrity chef Fabio Viviani is adding a second LAGO location.
Fabio Viviani Hospitality will expand the concept from Lake Zurich to Glenview, with the new restaurant at 1808 Waukegan Road slated to open in November.
LAGO opened its first location in March 2024, offering a combination of modern Italian steakhouse cuisine and handcrafted cocktails with a focus on hospitality and experiential dining.
The new two-story location will be over 10,000 square feet, including an event space, and will accommodate over 200 restaurant guests.
Among the partners in the new location is Bill Stavrou, owner of Glenview’s Valley Lodge Tavern.
Falling for fondue
Melting Pot in Schaumburg is leaning into fall with a new limited-time Fondue Into Fall menu featuring seasonal spins on its signature cheese and chocolate fondues.
The three-course menu includes cranberry pecan cheese fondue featuring Butterkäse and Fontina blended with apple cider, smoked ham, dried cranberries and candied pecans. There’s also an apple almond salad and pumpkin spice white chocolate fondue.
The menu is available until Nov. 22.
That’s a wrap
Fry the Coop recently launched its new Jumbo Hot Chicken Caesar Wrap at all locations.
The wrap, available for $14.99, includes two jumbo fried tenders (your heat choice) wrapped in a toasted 14-inch tortilla with Romaine, house Caesar dressing and shaved Parmesan.
Fry the Coop locations are in Bolingbrook, Darien, Elmhurst and Prospect Heights.
Happy hour
Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Naperville is expanding its happy hour offerings with new drink specials from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Guests can get $5 off select martinis and cocktails, including signature drinks such as The Knockout, made with pineapple-infused Smirnoff Orange Vodka; the Smoky Apple Orchard with apple- and cinnamon-infused Casamigos Mezcal, lime juice, maple syrup and Angry Orchard Cider; the Spicy Flamed Margarita; and the Hibiscus Cosmopolitan.
Select wines are also available for $8 by the glass during happy hour.
Taste of Spain
Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook will host a Spanish tapas and paella dinner on the restaurant’s outdoor patio at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The family-style dining event with chef John Borras will feature a menu of tapas, chicken paella and homemade Basque cheesecake, along with a welcome cocktail and unlimited beer and wine throughout dinner.
It’s $75 per guest, and tickets can be purchased on the Hyatt website.
More orange chicken
Panda Express will open its new location in Schaumburg on Friday, Oct. 2, with a celebration and ribbon cutting starting at 9:30 a.m.
Festivities will include a big check donation to Feed My Starving Children and guests can receive a limited-edition Pei Pei Blind Box as a gift with purchase.
The eatery is located in the new Crossroads of Schaumburg development at Golf and Meacham roads.
