Dining out: National Margarita Day, blindfolded dining, Girl Scout cookie and wine pairing and more

Salud!

Sunday, Feb. 22, is National Margarita Day. It’s one of the world’s most popular cocktails that hits just right no matter what time of year.

Chili’s, which sold nearly 30 million margaritas in 2025, is ready for Sunday with specials on its Tequila Classic Marg ($5), the StrawEddy Margarita of the Month ($6) and the Patrón frozen marg ($7). They’re also rolling out the new Margarita of the Month Club, which allows fans to track its monthly margarita offerings as well as buy merch.

The Hampton Social will offer half off its signature Hampton Skinny Margarita all day Sunday with a mention of National Margarita Day.

Didn’t see that coming

The Morton Arboretum will try to heighten several senses while eliminating one during its Dining in the Dark dinner.

Diners will enjoy a multicourse, chef-curated meal while blindfolded, highlighting the flavors, aromas and textures of the dining experience. The menu will feature a handcrafted seasonal appetizer, a tasting-sized pasta or grain dish, a choice of a meat or vegetarian main entrée featuring winter flavors and a deconstructed dessert.

Seatings are at 5 and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27-28. It’s $80 per person; tickets can be purchased on the website.

If wine tastings and pairing dinners seem a tad intimidating, Village Vintner in Algonquin has one that couldn’t be more approachable.

The Girl Scout Cookie and Wine Tasting pairs five wines with iconic cookies at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, and 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.

It’s $25 per person and includes the pairings, a video tour of the winery and a box of Girl Scout cookies. Call (847) 658-4900 after 3 p.m. or email janet@thevillagevintner.com to RSVP.
