10 suburban Burger King locations to be transformed under new ownership

The restaurants are set to undergo modernization, digital upgrades and remodels

Burger King Franchisee MJG Enterprises, LLC has acquired 10 Burger King restaurants in Illinois.

This is part of the brand’s “Reclaim the Flame” strategy announced in September 2022, aimed at reinvigorating and refreshing the system with committed operators and modernized restaurants designed to enhance the guest experience.

Franchise owner and operator Michael Gould, who became a Burger King franchisee in 2012, acquired the 10 restaurants. He previously operated two restaurants in Evanston and Skokie. This new acquisition brings MJG Enterprises, LLC’s total portfolio to 12 Burger King restaurants in the greater Chicago area.

Gould, who grew up in Lake Forest, began his career as an assistant manager in Mount Prospect in 1985. He became a managing partner with a Burger King Franchise group in 2004.

Gould now looks forward to reinvigorating the brand.

“Being an Illinois native, acquiring these 10 restaurants near where I grew up and still call home is truly meaningful,” Gould said. “My team and I are thrilled to take over these restaurants and be hands on in the local communities, making Burger King a beloved brand where guests know they can come for exceptional flame-grilled food and service.”

The 10 newly acquired locations will undergo refreshes including digital upgrades to the menu boards and new order kiosks, with select locations undergoing full renovations and remodels aimed at improving the overall guest experience.

The restaurants now are open in the communities of Algonquin, Antioch, Crystal Lake, Glendale Heights, Grayslake, Gurnee, McHenry, Round Lake Beach, and Waukegan.

MJG Enterprises, LLC, retained existing managers and team members while also hiring about 75 additional workers.

Gould has a track record of community involvement, including awarding employees with Burger King Foundation scholarships so they can further their education. He strives to foster relationships within the communities he serves with increased participation in activities such as local fundraisers and volunteering at community events, schools and elsewhere.
