Ingleside man indicted on reckless homicide charges involving Fox Lake crash last summer

Aggravated driving under the influence causing death also lodged

An Ingleside man has been indicted on two counts of reckless homicide and other charges involving a head-on crash last summer in Fox Lake resulting in the death of a 21-year-old man.

Kevin Kaminski, 49, also faces two counts of aggravated driving under the influence in connection with the crash last August on Route 12 between routes 134 and 59, in which both drivers had to be cut out of their vehicles.

According to authorities, Kaminski was the driver of a Cadillac SRX traveling south in the northbound lanes of Route 12 when it struck a Ford van driven by Anthony Herrera, 21, of Wauconda.

Herrera died in the emergency room at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville from blunt-force trauma as a result of the crash, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Kaminski also was taken to Condell with cuts and possible fractures. Both men were the only occupants in the vehicles.

The indictment was announced last week by the Lake County state’s attorney’s office.

Kaminski is set to appear in court Jan. 24.
