Two local churches join for 'Appalachian Winter' Christmas cantata

Come and experience an unforgettable musical presentation of "Appalachian Winter, A Christmas Cantata" by Joseph Martin.

Accompanied by a full chamber orchestra, it will be performed by the combined adult choirs of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake.

The performance will be held at the 9 a.m. service on Sunday, Dec. 3, at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main St. in Huntley.

Experience the joy and peace of this beautiful tapestry of song and scripture.

The 60-plus combined choir and full chamber orchestra will be under the direction of Jane McMullen, director of music at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, and Robert Blazek, director of music at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They have successfully developed excellent music programs at their respective churches.

These highly recognized music directors are collaborating their talents to interpret the music of contemporary Christian composer Joseph Martin with "Appalachian Winter, A Christmas Cantata" by Joseph Martin. Through the inspiration of the choirs and full chamber orchestra, this Advent and Christmas Cantata is a fresh combination of traditional sounds and rustic elements.
