Wheaton College professor to talk about his new book Dec. 7

Esau McCaulley, an associate professor at Wheaton College and award-winning author, discusses his newest book, "How Far to the Promised Land: One Black Family's Story of Hope and Survival in the American South."

Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St., will host the author visit, both in person and online, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7. Registration is required.

McCaulley is the award-winning author of "Reading While Black," an intergenerational account of his family's search for home and hope, and the children's book "Josey Johnson's Hair and the Holy Spirit."

He is an associate professor of New Testament at Wheaton College and theologian in residence at Progressive Baptist Church, a historically Black congregation in Chicago. He is a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. His writings have also appeared in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and Christianity Today
