Algonquin Area Public Library District hosts school supply drive for District 300

The Algonquin Area Public Library District is collecting new backpacks and school supplies for distribution at both the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry and the Community Unit District 300 Food Pantry.

"We want to help families in our community start the school year off on the right foot, and there's nothing we love more than meeting our patrons where they are," says Communications & Outreach Coordinator Kate Cundiff.

Previously, the library has collected gently used Halloween costumes and toys for distribution at the pantries and prom dresses for distribution through My Sister's Closet.

"Our goal any time we're out in the community is to showcase all the library has to offer. We're so much more than just books, and opportunities like these allow us to turn library non-users into library lovers."

Supplies are available for purchase online through the library's Community Registry powered by Target: bit.ly/SchoolSupplyDrive2023.

You are also more than welcome to purchase the specific items from the registry at your local Target or any other school supply store and drop them off at either the Harnish Main Library or the Eastgate Branch Library. The drive runs through Monday, July 31.

Contact Kate at kate@aapld.org or by phone at (847) 458-3144 with any questions concerning this school supply drive.
