Fill the School Bus fundraiser this week at Shepherd of the Prairie Church

In conjunction with its "Ready, Set, Move" vacation Bible school, Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main St. in Huntley, is hosting a "On the Move" fill-the-school-bus school supply drive through Sunday, July 16.

As part of the Bible school, the church is hosting a Fill the Bus school supply drive to provide families from the Grafton Food Pantry with new school supplies.

"This will prepare students for their academic studies, build their self-esteem and set them up for success," said Jill Gillming, director of children and family ministry. "A bus is on site at Shepherd of the Prairie. All supplies will be given to the Grafton Food Pantry for distribution."

Members of the community are invited to participate in the school supply fundraiser to benefit students. A list of supplies requested include:

• No. 2 Pencils, Ticonderoga

• Pink bevel erasers

• Pencil top erasers

• Plastic pencil box container with lid (6 quart - 13.7 x 8 x 4.9-inch or smaller preferred)

• Pencil bag

• 24-count Crayola crayons

• Washable thick markers

• Crayola 7-inch colored pencils

• Crayola regular Thick Tip Classic Markers

• Plastic folders and pocket folders

• 5-inch Fiskars scissors

• 70-count spiral notebook, wide rule

• Composition notebook

• 3 x 5-inch ruled index cards

• Four-pack Expo markers

• Kleenex box

• Paint shirt (old, oversized shirts)

• Backpack (no wheels)

• Headphones or earbuds

• Non-marking gym shoes

• Computer mouse

School supplies can also be dropped of at Shepherd of the Prairie during office hours on Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Collections will all be taken before and after weekend worship service times, which are held on Saturday, July 15, at 5 p.m. and on Sunday, July 16, at 9 a.m. (traditional) and 10:45 a.m. (contemporary).
