Palatine Kiwanis Club members receive prestigious award
At a recent meeting of the Palatine Kiwanis Club, John Peter Curielli and Cathy Curielli were honored with the prestigious Founders Circle Award by the Kiwanis International Children's Fund in recognition of surpassing $25,000 in lifetime donations.
The Kiwanis International Children's Fund is an arm of Kiwanis International, founded in 1939 to funnel donations from Kiwanians to programs that reach children around the world in the form of grants.
The grants are used to support the clubs in their missions in the areas of health and nutrition, education and literacy and leadership development.
The award was presented by Rick Poulton, a member of the Elgin Kiwanis Club and a current trustee of the Kiwanis International Children's Fund, along with Erica Gould, a development officer from the main office in Indianapolis.
The Curiellis are a husband-and-wife team who together have been deeply involved in service to children in local, national and international charities for many years.
John Peter has held the position of governor of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis International. Both have served as lieutenant governors and held leadership positions in several Kiwanis clubs.
In addition to myriad Kiwanis activities, they are board members of Crime Stoppers of Lake County and are involved with the Barrington DeMolay, Barrington Masonic Lodge, Medinah Shriners and several Italian American organizations.
John Peter is an attorney whose office is in Barrington, where he has practiced since 1973, with Cathy at his side as office manager and paralegal.
