Seven reasons why your child should go to Sunshine Preschool

Skip, hop and jump to Northbrook Park District's Sunshine Preschool Open House, where new experiences, learning and hands-on fun await.

On Nov. 12, Sunshine Preschool will be hosting an Open House from 10-11:30 a.m., to show little ones and their grown-ups just what they can expect once they become a student with the popular preschool program. Stop by to meet the teachers, check out the classrooms and learn about all the experiences Sunshine Preschool can offer. Activities will be out for the children as if they were attending preschool for the day. Parents and children are welcome and encouraged. Refreshments will be provided.

Sunshine Preschool offers classes for both 3- and 4-year-old children. Children in the 3-year-old program learn through play and creating projects to enhance their knowledge. The 4-year-old program focuses on kindergarten readiness and includes activities to help children develop an understanding of the alphabet and numbers.

The district also has early childhood programs that are designed to enrich the preschool experience through a variety of activities, including art, cooking, music, fitness, Spanish and science. Park district preschool classes are led by highly experienced teachers, offering a multifaceted program based on the philosophy of learning through play in a nurturing and supportive environment. Classes take place at the Northbrook Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave.

"Sunshine Preschool offers a great opportunity to get your child prepared socially and emotionally for school," Recreation Supervisor Nancy Eschker said. "Our play-based learning keeps children engaged while developing their gross and fine motor skills. We prepare them for the classroom, and we have such wonderful, loving, skilled teachers."

Eschker encourages parents to enroll their 3- and 4-year-olds for a variety of benefits.
