Palatine principal dresses as a chicken to reward students

Popsicles, pies and chickens, oh my!

Last week the principal at St. Thomas of Villanova School, Palatine, had quite the week. Principal Matthew Martino set several pledge goals for his students to reach in the school's annual Track-a-thon fundraising event.

The students met and exceeded all of his goals, so Principal Martino had to keep his end of the bargain. Students earned a Popsicle party at recess and no homework for a day.

However, the big reward was that the school raised enough to get Principal Martino to wear a chicken costume for the day.

He traded his tie for feathers, and the students loved it. The chicken costume was clearly a favorite of the students as Martino clucked to greet students as they entered the building.

The highest earners in the school also were given the chance to pie Principal Martino in the face.

This pledge challenge has been a lot of fun for the students at St. Thomas of Villanova and something to bring the school together around its new principal.
