Volo Museum hails new modern muscle showroom with show of 1985 and newer exotics, more

VOLO - World famous for its ever-evolving collection of classic and collector cars from the 1920s and '30s through the iconic muscle of the 1960s and '70s, Volo Museum this week celebrates some decidedly more contemporary splendor.

The museum's all-new Modern Muscle and Luxury Car Showroom will be championed with a free car show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, on the museum grounds at 27582 Volo Village Road, Volo. Owners of exotic, muscle and luxury vehicles of any make and model are welcome to participate, free of charge, as long as cars are 1985 models or newer, said Jim Wojdyla, marketing director at the museum.

Caleb Grams, director of the new showroom, said excitement is building around the event, preceded earlier this week by a ribbon-cutting.

"The goal of our car show is not just to raise awareness of our new division of modern muscle cars, but also to bring together our community of modern muscle car lovers," Grams said. "It's fun just to look at these incredible machines. But hearing the owners' stories of how and why they own one of these beautiful cars is what it's all about."

The most popular cars featured in the new showroom are Shelby Mustangs, Dodge Challenger Hellcats, ZR1 Corvettes and Dodge Vipers. Grams said he only selects cars that have very low miles, are special editions, or are particularly high-end vehicles.

"The standards set for this showroom are to focus on true "collector' cars and continue the stellar reputation that Volo Museum has spent decades building," he said.

The show Saturday is free for qualifying participants and spectators, who also can view the new Modern Muscle showroom for free that day. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Raffles also will be offered, with prizes including professional car photo shoots in the museum's studio. Admission to the rest of the museum will be at regular price.

Featuring everything from hundreds of modern muscle, classic collector and iconic Hollywood cars to a military museum, hand-carved vintage carousel and more than 10,000 mechanical marvels, Volo Museum has something for everyone. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $19.95 per adult, $17.95 per senior, $16.95 for military, $12.95 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and younger.
