Reach Rescue to host golf outing to help build new adoption center

Since 2011, Reach Rescue has been rescuing dogs from the streets of Northern Illinois all the way down to Mississippi, Texas and Oklahoma.

Over the years, the Mundelein-based organization has saved more than 4,500 animals. Reach Rescue has grown exponentially, and on any given Saturday during their weekly adoption event, you can tell they're bursting at the seams.

To meet the needs of rescuing dogs in a safe and efficient manner, the organization has purchased three acres in Mundelein to build an adoption center and intake facility, which will allow even more dogs to be given a second chance at life.

In order to fundraise for this endeavor, Reach Rescue will be hosting its first Barks & Bogeys Golf Tournament on Sept. 15 at Countryside Golf Course, 20800 W. Hawley St.

The scramble format golf event comes with challenges, like a $10,000 Hole in One award, along with locally donated prizes for Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and the Paws Putting Challenge.

Prizes and drinks will follow a fun afternoon on the green. Golfers are encouraged to participate in the 50/50 raffle, as well as raffles for a Yeti Cooler, two nights in Chicago, plus dinner, and more.

The presenting sponsor for Barks & Bogeys is Watterson Emergency and Disaster Response.
