Schaumburg Library hosts three-day Hackathon for teens

Schaumburg Township District Library is set to host its annual Teen Hackathon Friday, Aug. 5, through Sunday, Aug. 7.

Teens ages 12-19 can join the library for three days of coding, programming and hacking in this technological challenge.

The event begins Friday morning with a problem to solve. You can work solo, with friends you bring or friends you make at the Hackathon. All projects are due on Sunday at the end of the competition. Projects will be judged by a panel and prizes will be awarded.

Snacks will be provided and there will be space available in the library to work on your project; however, you are not required to be in the library the entire time. Projects can be submitted online. Limited supplies of laptops and computers will be available at the library, but please bring your own laptop if you're able.

This is not an overnight event. The library will open and close at its regularly scheduled hours. The hours of the Hackathon are: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, and Saturday, Aug. 6, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.
