School Districts in Full Compliance

North Cook Intermediate Service Center (ISC) / Regional Office of Education #5 in Des Plaines announced that all 10 school districts scheduled for compliance audits during the 2021-2022 school year were deemed in "full compliance."

The elementary school districts inspected were: Northbrook School Districts 27 and 28, Northbrook/Glenview District 30, Winnetka District 36, Kenilworth District 38, Wilmette District 39, Community Consolidated School District 59, Des Plaines Community Consolidated School District 62, Evanston-Skokie District 65 and Northfield Township High School District 225.

During these visits, a Compliance Team inspects school facilities, records, policies, programs, credentials, and curriculum to determine compliance with state and federal laws and Illinois School Code.

As required by the State Board of Education, audits are conducted every four years and include on-site visits, data reviews, building tours, and talking with teachers, students and staff about the schools and programs. At the same time, an audit of each district's Professional Development activities for staff during the year are also conducted to ensure compliance with Illinois Learning Standards.

The compliance process is an opportunity for school districts to improve operations and to support programs that deliver quality educational experiences and services to students in the North Cook region.

Regional Superintendent Dr. Kevin Jauch said, "The NCISC/ROE5 Compliance Team thanks everyone involved at these districts for their cooperation and assistance during the compliance reviews."

Compliance audits are just one of the regulatory functions that the Regional Office of Education is responsible for; others include health and life safety at schools and educator licensure. There are a total of 39 school districts within the North Cook region, with 32 elementary and seven high school districts, as well as two special education co-operatives.
