Democracy Rocks Treasure Hunt in Roselle to teach important civic lessons

To help commemorate the Village of Roselle's 100th anniversary, the League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale presents the Democracy Rocks Treasure Hunt.

The Treasure Hunt is designed to teach children eight essential lessons about our democracy - and encourage adults to vote in the primary election on Tuesday, June 28.

Participants will walk around Roselle's Town Center using a Treasure Map to locate eight Treasure Hunt art installations.

Each installation has a Civic Tag with a democracy message.

Treasure Hunters will record the missing word(s) from the tag on their Treasure map/log sheet that is available at Roselle Village Hall, 31 S. Prospect St.; Juice & Berry, 35 E. Main St.; and the Roselle Fine Arts Academy, 116 S. Prospect St.

The final hunt challenge is to use the DuPage or Cook county election websites to find the polling location for the hunter's home address!

"We designed our Democracy Rocks Treasure Hunt route to be walkable in about 30 minutes by children and their parents," said Barbara Hochstadt, the League's communications director. "Prizes from Juice & Berry, Roselle Fine Arts Academy, and Little Red Ribbon will be awarded to the youngest and oldest participants - and for the first to turn in their correctly completed Treasure Hunt log sheet."

All Treasure Hunt log sheets must be submitted to lwvrbmail@gmail.com before 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28. The prize drawing will be held on Wednesday, June 28.
