American Wind Band hosts outdoor concert June 12

The American Wind Band is presenting a free "Summer is a Comin' Outdoor Concert" on Sunday, June 12. It will begin at 2 p.m. on the west side of the American Legion Post 80, 4000 Saratoga Ave. in Downers Grove. Please note this earlier time.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket, umbrella for shade, sunscreen and bug spray but leave pets at home. In case of inclement weather, check the website as the concert may be canceled.

The directors have chosen a variety of music that includes marches; the Overture to Mozart's "La clemenza di Titus"; "Gallito," a Spanish Matador's Paso Doble"; "Jump Swing Fever"; and "A Rhapsody of Reruns," challenging the audience to identify all the show themes from years past.

American Wind Band, which is based in Downers Grove, promotes and encourages the understanding and appreciation of concert band literature through performance and strives for the education and enjoyment of band music to all in attendance. Many thanks to the American Legion Post 80 for hosting the concert.
