Brotherhood of Harmony to celebrate 25 years with a free concert June 4
The Brotherhood of Harmony Chorus will present a 25th anniversary concert of a cappella music on Saturday, June 4, in Wheaton.
The concert will be 1 to 3 p.m. at 255 Town Square, the storefront next to Prairie Path Books, in the Town Square Wheaton Mall.
The program will include show tunes, country, folk songs, old favorites like "My Wild Irish Rose," rock 'n roll tunes like "Hello Mary Lou," and Beatles songs like "Yesterday."
"These men sing a wide array of popular songs utilizing four-part harmony to produce the barbershop quartet sound," said chorus Director Brian Cromer.
As a thank you to its loyal audiences, admission to the concert is free and refreshments will also be provided.
Also featured will be the Sequel Trio. The acoustic rock trio plays classics and contemporary rock and country songs in a gentler vein. Two singers playing acoustic guitar and electric bass, plus a violinist, make up the group. The sound is at once intimate and powerful, with a distinctive tenor leading the way. The Brotherhood of Harmony, which specializes in four-part a cappella harmony, meets weekly to rehearse at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays at DeerGrove Covenant Church, 225 E. Helen Road in Palatine.
For those who love to sing, the chorus has openings for all parts and skill levels, so come join. In addition, a special program of free singing/voice lessons will be offered beginning July 14.
