Holy Week and Easter worship set at Shepherd of the Prairie
Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley will offer two Palm Sunday services on Sunday, April 10, including a traditional worship at 9 a.m. and contemporary at 10:45 a.m. Both services will begin outside, weather permitting, and worshippers will proceed with palms into the church sanctuary.
Holy Week services begin with a traditional Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. with focus on servanthood, loving one another, and the Lord's Supper.
On Good Friday, April 15, all are invited to the children's service at 10 a.m.
The Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. gets its name from the Latin word for darkness. The service focuses on the seven last words of Christ with the alternating of scripture readings, lighting of candles and hymns.
On Saturday, April 16, there will be an Easter-themed traditional worship at 5 p.m. and on Easter Sunday, it will be a festive traditional worship with organ, trumpet, and small vocal ensemble at 9 a.m. and festive contemporary worship with praise band at 11 a.m.
