Naperville Sunrise Rotary hosts virtual Mixology Party April 8 to benefit Kenyan Children's Home and School

On Friday, April 8, the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise will host "Cocktails for a Cause Virtual Mixology Party" to help raise funds for school equipment and supplies for Cheryl's Children's Home and School in Nairobi, Kenya.

The event from 6:30 to 8 p.m. will feature Mixologist Devin Kidner of Hollow Leg in Chicago, offering secrets of great cocktails and teaching attendees to mix two specialty cocktails live for their enjoyment.

A presentation by IdaLynn Wenhold, executive director of 4:13 Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting children in emerging nations who struggle with the effects of poverty.

"We are excited and honored to once again work with the Sunrise Rotary to bring hope and healing to the children of Cheryl's Children's Home & School in Nairobi, Kenya," Wenhold said. "The donations from 'Cocktails for a Cause' will support the education of orphaned children rescued from abuse and abandonment."

Cheryl's Children's Home & School is currently building a new home and school facility in Nairobi.

The event will also feature a "Choose Your Own Raffle," including an extremely rare Pappy Van Winkle 15-Year-Old Family Reserve Bourbon, a "Make Your Own Pasta Party and Dinner" for six, and a private summer tour and tasting at Whiskey Acres Distillery in DeKalb.

Donations are also welcome.

The event is sponsored by the Naperville Sunrise Rotary International Committee which supports the well-being of children and families throughout the world.

"We've been committed to health, education and self-sufficiency in communities across the globe," says committee member Deb Newman. "From building a school in Zambia to supporting electrification in Honduras and clean water tanks in Guatemala, Sunrise Rotary believes in the commitment of Rotary International, to use our passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world. The children of Cheryl's Home represent the future and we are proud to support them."
