Schaumburg Library hosts virtual visit with children's author
As part of its One Book, One Community, Schaumburg Township District Library welcomes bestselling author and Newbery Medal winner Jerry Craft for a comics workshop and author visit on Monday, Feb. 21.
Schaumburg Library's One Book, One Community is a time for residents of Schaumburg Township and the surrounding area to join together in the joy of reading a great book and to have meaningful conversations. The library's One Book, One Community selection this year is "The Vanishing Half" by Brit Bennett.
In addition to the main One Book, One Community selection, the library selects titles for young readers. This year, that includes "Class Act" by Jerry Craft, an illustrated chapter book recommended for ages 9-12.
Author Jerry Craft will join the Schaumburg Library community for a virtual visit, teaching kids ages 9-12 all about drawing comics, how he creates his books and answering kids' questions. Both events are online on Zoom Monday, Feb. 21. The comics workshop is at 2 p.m. and the author visit is at 3:30 p.m. Arrangements for the appearance of Jerry Craft were made through HarperCollins Speakers Bureau, New York, New York.
