Misericordia Fundraiser Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Silver Jubilee Benefit
The annual Misericordia Heart of Gold benefit will return to an in-person event, on Friday, February 25, 2022, to celebrate 25 years of the Misericordia Women's League.
After coming together to celebrate virtually last year for the true 25th anniversary, the League couldn't be more excited to reunite with friends, family and Misericordia supporters to honor the milestone with a proper tribute. Formed in 1996 by just four women, the Misericordia Women's League has now grown to more than 150 women from across the western suburbs.
The annual Heart of Gold Benefit is the largest fundraiser for the League, with more than 600 guests expected to attend this year's benefit. Over the past 25 years, the League has raised nearly $7 million for Misericordia, including $780,000 raised virtually last year.
Attendees can expect a night of fun and entertainment, with both live and silent auctions, raffle drawings for an Yves St. Laurent purse and an Apple Watch, as well as a share the pot raffle.
"We are so thrilled to have an opportunity to celebrate safely together again," said Lisa Cruse, president of the Misericordia Women's League. "It will truly be a celebration of every person who has helped make this event possible over the past 25 years. Between our hardworking League members and supporters from near and far, we are so grateful to everyone who has helped us further the mission of Misericordia."
The February 25th event will also celebrate the longtime support of 2022 Heart of Gold Award recipients, Gretchen and Tim McCarty. Throughout her 12 years as a Women's League member, Gretchen has put her heart and soul into everything she does for the League. Between organizing the upcoming paddle tennis tournament and serving as a former benefit chair and Women's League president herself, Gretchen has always been a true believer in the mission of Misericordia, Sister Rosemary Connelly, Fr. Jack Clair and their entire team. Gretchen and Tim have supported Misericordia in countless ways, and the League is thrilled to honor their contributions with the 2022 Heart of Gold Award.
"Misericordia Home is a wonderful place, unlike any other," says Gretchen. "When you are on their campus, you feel the love and compassion all around you, and the purpose of each resident. It embraces you; the whole campus draws you in - such devotion to give these residents the best life possible."
All in-person attendees will be asked to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. The League is taking every precaution to provide a safe and comfortable environment, and those interested in attending are asked to please stay up to date on the latest safety protocols in place by visiting www.heartofgoldbenefit.org. For those unable to join the in-person event, the awards presentation will be live-streamed via Zoom from 8:30-9:30 pm.
The Heart of Gold Silver Jubilee will take place on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Hilton Oak Brook Hills Resort at 6:30 pm. For additional details and registration information, please visit www.heartofgoldbenefit.org.
