Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans Receives Support from DAR

Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans received financial support from the Barrington, IL-based Signal Hill Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, in the amount of $1,000. MSHV is a non-profit agency that provides housing, supportive services, and community outreach to help homeless and at-risk veterans and their families achieve self-sufficiency.

Founded in 2007 by Vietnam veteran Bob Adams and Gulf War veteran Dirk Enger, Wheaton, IL-based MSHV operates on a vision of "no veteran left behind due to homelessness, joblessness, poverty, and/or mental health issues." The agency serves more than 357 unique veteran households annually across a thirteen-county service area.

The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Barrington, in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization headquartered in Washington, DC.

Due to fund-raising efforts throughout 2021, the chapter was able to contribute financially to a number of 501 (c) (3) organizations, specifically in the areas of historic preservation, education, patriotism, conservation and Native Americans.

Since its founding in 1890, over one million women have joined both nationally and around the world. Membership in NSDAR is open to any woman aged 18 and over who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. For more information: https://signalhilldar.com.
