Fox River Memorial Library plans program on Norge Ski Club

Fox River Grove Memorial Library is planning a variety of virtual and in-person adult events in January. Call (847) 639-2274 to register.

• On Thursday, Jan. 13, gather around the library's cozy fireplace for a lively book discussion of Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy at 6 p.m. in person at 407 Lincoln Ave.

• On Wednesday, Jan. 19, Guy Larsen presents "Norge Ski Jumping Club in Fox River Grove: The Hill, the History, and Our Local Olympians," in conjunction with Wauconda Area Library, Cary Area Public Library, Crystal Lake Public Library, and Algonquin Area Public Library. The program will be held at 7 p.m. via Zoom.

• On Friday, Jan. 21, intermediate-level crocheters meet up to make a snowflake mug coaster at 1 p.m. in person at 407 Lincoln Ave. Pattern and supplies provided.

• On Wednesday, Jan. 26, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, bestselling and award-winning author of "Mexican Gothic," will discuss her new book, "Velvet Was the Night," and her genre-defying mashups of cultural noir and Lovecraftian horror at 7 p.m. via Zoom. This event is made possible by Illinois Libraries Present, a statewide collaboration between public libraries offering high-quality events.
