KodiakCare Announces Second Annual Bidding for Barks Online Auction on Sept. 20.
KodiakCare, a nonprofit that saves dogs by providing funding for critical veterinary care to families who lack financial means, today announced their second annual Bidding for Barks online auction.
The auction runs from 8 a.m.on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, through 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, and will feature more than 100 items at a variety of price points.
Auction items include gift cards to local restaurants and retailers; travel and tour packages; tickets to live performances; collectors' items for movie, music and sports fans; custom pet portraits; a raffle for an iPhone 12 Pro, and much more.
All proceeds from Bidding for Barks will go to fund otherwise unaffordable life-saving care for dogs in need. KodiakCare's inaugural auction in 2020 garnered more than $18,000 in donations. This year, the nonprofit hopes to raise even more.
"Last year's inaugural auction was a huge success and the real winners were the dogs and families in need. With the money raised from the event, KodiakCare was able to help dogs like Dutch, a miniature poodle who was hit by a pickup truck. Thanks to KodiakCare funding Dutch received the emergency surgery that he needed,"said Margaret Shapiro, Executive Director of KodiakCare. "We hope to raise over $20,000 with the fantastic items offered in this year's auction. KodiakCare is ready to be there for more pups and loving owners in times of crisis."
ABOUT KODIAKCARE
KodiakCare is a non-profit organization founded by Glenn and Nancy Shapiro in honor of their dog, Kodiak - a sweet Bernese mountain dog with giant paws and an even bigger heart. Kodiak experienced multiple medical challenges over the years, but the Shapiro family was fortunate enough to have the necessary funds to prolong his life for many years. Understanding that not everyone is financially able to similarly provide care for their dogs, they founded KodiakCare to come to the rescue.
KodiakCare's dream is to keep finances from determining a dog's fate. Sixty million U.S. households own at least one dog; of those, 35 million have less than $1,000 for unexpected veterinary care. An estimated 500,000 dogs are euthanized each year as a result. KodiakCare partners with animal hospitals in the Greater Boston and Chicago areas to provide funds for life-saving veterinary care for dogs whose families lack financial means.
