Maryville's second annual Virtual Week of Giving fundraiser set for June 21-25

Maryville will be hosting its 2nd Annual Virtual Week of Giving fundraiser starting Monday, June 21 through Friday, June 25. The virtual event will benefit the children, families and life-changing programs of Maryville.

Last year's successful inaugural virtual fundraiser helped serve almost 3,000 children in Maryville's outreach and day programs during the year. Donations and money raised from auction items helped defray the overall cost of unbudgeted expenses made necessary by the pandemic.

"We were able to keep the doors of Maryville open because of our donors," said Maryville Executive Director Sister Catherine M. Ryan, O.S.F. "We thank our friends, special sponsors and community partners who are helping us raise the money."

The virtual fundraiser this year will feature several successful alumni, Maryville's - children of yesterday -who will share their stories, their journey and their successes.

John Brdecka, a proud Maryville alumnus, said that before coming to Maryville, he did not think about his future as a child.

"I was just worried about surviving, living day to day and trying to figure out how I got into the situation I was in as a young child."

"It wasn't my fault. Why am I here? What did I do to be where I am?" he remembers asking himself as a young child. "I didn't think about where I'll be 20 years from now."

Brdecka said that his life changed when he got to Maryville.

"With the programs in place to support children like myself, I was able to realize my full potential. I ended up going to school, getting a great education, a great job. I am happily married now with four kids of my own."

"These could not have happened without the support and dedication of donors," Brdecka said. "I know firsthand with people's generous donation today, it will definitely help the programs that are in place to support the children of Maryville."

This year's sponsors include Albro Land Corporation, Abt, Norcon, Inc., Pepper Construction, Comcast Business, Forum Extended Care Services, Sexton Complete Care, A-1 Mechanical Services, Inc., and Peterson Roofing, Inc.
