Community Fun Fills Summer Schedule at North Suburban YMCA

Summer is just around the corner, and the NSYMCA is filling it with engaging programs for the whole community. From summer camp, to outdoor Group Ex classes, to the new Community Strong golf outing, the North Suburban YMCA has an array of healthy indoor, outdoor, and virtual experiences to help the community re-connect.

"Strengthening community bonds is a central mission of our Y," notes Kathy Fielding, CEO of the NSYMCA. "Throughout the pandemic, we were very busy creating new virtual programming to help our members stay healthy both physically and emotionally, and feel connected to one another as we all stayed indoors. Now, we're so happy to announce that we have a summer filled with programs to get away from technology for a while, and see each other in person again!"

Running from June 7 to August 13, YMCA summer classes offer the perfect opportunity to try a new activity or strengthen skills in a continuing program (not too late to register). Classes include aquatics, fitness, yoga, performing, educational enrichment classes, all specially designed to suit a range of ages and ability levels. The NSYMCA also offers virtual social opportunities for adults with the Y.E.S. (YMCA Educational Series) programming that includes Brain Games, Social Networking, Caregiver Support Group, Social Club Lunch, and much more.

The Y's upcoming summer event schedule features: the Eric Fisher Memorial Ride on June 13, Trivia Night Under the Stars on June 25, Drive-in Movie Night on July 16, the inaugural Community Strong Golf Fundraiser on July 22, the Community Strong Week on August 22-28, and Seniorpalooza on September 22.

The YMCA's 2021 Summer Camp is filling up fast and features over 40 general and special interest day camps for children in pre-K through junior high school. All camp programs provide a safe, nurturing, and creative environment to support the development of each child. New to the Y's Summer Camp roster are innovative camps for special interests, such as Candy Chemistry, Expedition Mars, Jokin' Around, Movie Makers, Ozaria Coding Camp, Field Trip Camps, Middle School only field trip camp, Full Day Pathfinders camp for 4-year-olds, and a 10-Week Gymnastic camp.

"The Y's 2021 summer schedule of programs is designed to help everyone enjoy each other during these precious summer months. We're so grateful to our community and we're looking forward to a wonderful season of bringing people together," said Fielding.
